Hi Cleansedetox,
This is a nice list. I'm happy to see no senna and cascara sagrada as they
have harmful effects on the enteric nerves and can actually cause an
unusual stress to the colon as well as dependency with frequent or
prolonged use.
I would also add to your list American Saffron and Slippery Elm Bark as
they are both very healing for leaky gut no matter if it is in the small
bowel or large bowel. For colitis, I recommend Edgar Cayce's Formula 208
(not forever - just until healing has occurred). Edgar Cayce's Formula 545
is excellent for general digestive "tune-up." I recommend the use of any
healing agent on a rotational basis so as not to induced dependency.
Finally, I would incorporate a word of caution regarding Capsicum of
Cayenne Fruit as this can both be aggravating to digestive health in some
people as it is a nightshade.
Marshmallow and watermelon seed also come to mind as great aids towards
digestive healing. I'm going to bet there are many more. The "Cayce
Herbal" is an excellent resource. It can be viewed at

Cheers,
Robin

Subject: [bowelcleanse] Top herbs for cleansing
I was trying to compile a list of herbs that are best for bowel cleansing
and I came up with:
Blue Violet Leaves - helps to eliminate excess mucus
Capsicum or Cayenne Fruit - helps to cleanse the circulatory and digestive
systems
Dandelion Root - stimulates the liver to detoxify toxins, cleanses liver
Fennel Seed - helps the respiratory tract
Hibiscus - mild laxative
Does anyone have suggestions? It would really be helpful
Thanks in advance!
